About
Hi, I’m Michael Joseph Villar, a 28 year-old web strategist from Manila, The Philippines. I work as the Senior Marketing Manager for US Auto Parts (PRTS) and erstwhile, the Global Account Manager for I.PH and a Business Development guy for a BPO company.
For income (and sometimes fun), I provide Affiliate Marketing, Media, UI design and Social Media Strategy services as a consultant. I am really good at what I do and, if you hire me, I assure you I am going to do a hell of a lot better job than that asshole who does Internet Marketing for you.
Earlier this year, I got engaged to Maffy, my best friend 6 years. Our wedding’s going to be on December 10, 2009 where I intend to get drunk and collapse smack into our wedding cake. HITCHED BITCHES!
I love Seth Godin, although I think only 10% of what he writes is actually useful, the rest is idealistic drivel generously peppered with ad hominem.
I also believe David Ogilvy when he said that “Originality” is the most dangerous word in the lexicon of advertising. This basically means that in doing what I do, I am a best practice square. Boring, I know, but then again, do you drive millions of dollars’ worth of revenue with your “original” campaigns? Exactly.
If I were still an addict, my drug of choice would be Social Media. I believe that social capital, with the proper impetus, can be leveraged to mobilize people. My personal proof of concept was Philippineaid.com which generated close to $20,000 for the victims of Tropical Storm Ketsana which struck the Philippines in September 2009. I promoted the site entirely using Social Media channels.
I’m a shirt and jeans kind of guy, I get hammered solely on beer most of the time, I don’t watch television nor listen to radio and I am in my most productive when I am in front of a Mac.
